Kia Ora Whanau
Mihi mahana ki a koutou. Its been mighty cold in Palmy and our fire has been roaring for days on end to keep the whanau warm. We have this big house so our 3 generations can fit comfortably under the same roof. Pretty rare nowadays aye? My mother told me that your mother would always be your best friend in life and no matter what happens she will be there for you. It was magic to hear my 26 year old daughter tell me last week that I was her best friend and that living together was creating beautiful memories for her son to treasure. My Nanny Heremia lived with us since I was born and our whanau are so grateful for those times. We thought she was so comical, being so forgetful, singing silly rhymes, telling stories and then all of a sudden she was walking down the road to Waiohiki to see her sister who had been dead for many years. In more recent years, the medical profession have called it Alzheimers. Scroll down for more info on this. As promised, we will look at why we need to have a regular Colon cleanse. The body's waste system needs to be working properly otherwise it can affect your health in so many other areas. On a spiritual level, the colon is about holding on to old emotional stuff so it can be a cleansing on other levels too. Further info and pictures are available for you to look at to see exactly what kind of gunk can get stuck in your colon. Amazing really! Soups are another healthy way to eat more vegetables and is even more delicious with some nice hot bread that is good for you. Overcooked food turns the body into an Acidic state in which disease can form in the body. Keeping the body in an Alkaline state is about eating vegetables and meat that is cooked in a relatively short period of time. We will look at some foods that promote this alkaline state for well being. Online training is still going well. For those who contacted me about training over the last few weeks, please email me again. I deleted all my emails by mistake! We will give you some more details about the Workshops this time. Although we are all flat out with work and study, be assured we are working on it. Read on...
Alzheimers
Our Nanny did some funny things when we were kids. She used to hide her stockings and say someone had stolen them then get dressed at 12am while we were still watching the late movies. Mostly I remember her singing and the way her faded eyes wrinkled when she laughed. God bless our lovely Nanny. Maori still look after their old people at home today but sadly it is not an option for all whanau. Caring for whanau members can sometimes wear you down physically and emotionally. Kia mataara and have a good support system available for when you need help and don't be afraid to ASK. We found a website with more information to help those with dementia and those caring for them. There is no known cure for Alzheimers but this site recommends treatments available in New Zealand and also some health supplements that may help. http://www.alzheimers.org.nz. Some kaumatua in Hawkes Bay expressed their desire to offer Maori elderly care with Maori staff who offer mirimiri, romiromi, rongoa, kapahaka, healthy boil ups and heaps of kaimoana.
Colon Cleanses
Regular cleaning of the colon is just as important as having a shower or brushing your teeth. Over the years, a film can form in our colon which can be as thick as peanut butter. If not cleaned regularly, then the opening can get smaller and smaller so that the poisons and toxins block up the colon and cause self-poisoning in the rest of the body. Click here to see pictures of what kind of gunk gets stuck in the colon area. Constipation is another sign that the colon needs to be cleaned.

Soups & Breads
Slow cooked food can turn the body into an acidic state. Gone are the days where you boil soup for hours as all the nutrition of the vegetables are lost and your healthy soup can be full of acids. Freshly chopped veges and meat quickly browned before adding stock and water can be ready in as little as 15 mins. Nutritious, hot and low in calories. Even fish heads are good in a soup with plenty of fish oil giving you the omega oils with good fats. Fatty hock soup is NO GOOD for you. It is full of fat and is the equivalent of eating fatty fried foods. Although Rewana bread tastes nice, it is made from white flour which slows the system right down so that it becomes sluggish leading to constipation. Needless to say, fried bread does the same thing. Try some wholemeal flour with baking powder with some linseed meal, a little brown sugar and rice milk as ingredients for a paraoa in the oven. Ingredients like this help to maintain the colon and tastes delicious hot with soups.
Alkaline
An acidic body is one that is more prone to disease. An alkaline body is a healthy body. To keep the body in an alkaline state, your diet needs to have plenty of fresh water and as many raw or partially cooked vegetables as possible. Meat cooked rare is much more healthy for you than a stew that has been sitting in a crock pot for hours. Roasted vegetables and meat are extremely acidic because of the slow cooking process. It has been proven scientifically that walking on the beach barefeet can enhance the alkalinity of the body. Some who suffer from chronic cramps have found that swimming in the sea can resolve cramps altogether from the natural salts in the sea water. Hohepa Kereopa suggested drinking sea water (collected after the seventh wave) mixed with red peppers after each meal to clean the body and the blood. It can be stored in the fridge for up to a week. Hineahuone, the first earth formed woman was made on the beach so it makes sense that when we are unwell in hospital we are given a drip with saline in it - salt and water.
Online Training & Healing Sessions
For the man from the UK and the woman from Europe who contacted me a few weeks ago for online Maori healing training, please email me again. I deleted all my emails from My Documents by mistake thinking I was clearing out old documents and so lost all your contact details. Sorry! For those of you who are doing online training and exeriencing healing from these sessions, ka pai u. What affects one affects the whole whanau so it is a blessing for all and is so meant to be.
Workshops
We have decided to have three facilitators in our workshops so that you can understand the bigger picture in healing. Depending on the tauira there and the work that needs to be done for each person, your facilitators will give an intuitive reading of the spiritual, physical, emotional or psycological needs of the person so you can see how its done.
One facilitator will offer an explanation of the anatomy and the body systems (kept as simple as possible) pertaining to what is happening with that person. Then he will identify any issues that need addressing spiritually and recommend the health supplements available to remedy or maintain wellness.
Another facilitator will read the body for any blockages then look into the cellular memory of the body to see what core experiences are being held onto. She will show you how to work with someone to release these using Maori spritual healing, takutaku and deep tissue bodywork. Her recommendations will help you to maintain future wellness.
The third facilitator will also use matekite to intuitively read the body, the circumstances around the unwellness of the body and the Tupuna and wairua surrounding the person. His assessment will recommend the appropriate Rongoa, Karakia and Maori spiritual healing necessary for wholistic wellness.
Well that's us for this month. For those students who are hard out with assignments coming out of their ears: 'Whaia te iti kahurangi, ki te tuohu koe me he maunga teitei.'
