Māori & Island Style Massage Kahuna Hawaiian Bodywork is an ancient Hawaiian technique that works all the body's waste systems. It will cleanse away impurities and poisons that block the blood flow thus causing stiffness and pain. Kahuna bodywork is similar to sports massage in that it milks the muscles of poisons but has a far more gentle flow to it that enhances the body's natural healing process.
Cultural Bodywork is a complete massage bodywork system based on Hawaiian Kahuna teachings with Māori influences. A healing modality that works on the natural flow of the body's systems. This cleanses all the systems of the body, clears the mind and invigorates the body. Working the body on a physical level creates shifts on an emotional and spiritual level. Cultural Bodywork works the following: Blood flow circulation - Toxins - Chakra rebalance - Tension release - Relaxation for mind, body & spirit - Lymphatic - Meridians - Backwalking - Using knees & feet - Powerful muscle technique - Excellent for arthritic joints.
Te Oomai Reia We use a range of healing and bodywork modalities and specialise in traditional Māori healing - Te Oomai Reia. The knowledge of 'Te Oomai Reia' is traditional Maori knowledge that has been passed down through the generations of ancestors to our teacher, Papa Hohepa Delamere. We feel honoured and privileged to have been his Tauira - students. He asked for only one thing in return; that we share this knowledge with others. Papa Delamere has given his blessing for us to use and teach 'Te Oomai Reia' to help other people. Papa has shared these teachings with many different cultures around the world as well.
The following excerpt was written by Papa Delamere:
Mirimiri, Koo Miri, Taa Miri, me Romiromi hoki - is an ancient practice of Tohunga which clears, releases and re-energizes one's entire being. This unique modality releases negative energies, physical, psychological and even generational pain that is trapped in the cellular memory of the body. This has been particularly effective with couples seeking infertility treatment as well as mental health workers and their clients.
In this context, Mirimiri is the spiritual healing process that works on all four dimensions. It connects the practitioner to the 12th heaven that the ancestor 'Tāne' climbed to get the three kete of knowledge. The practising Tohunga links in to the vibrations of the Divine creator, greets the ancestors and kaitiaki of the whai-ora in question then clears any unnecessary energies that may block this part of the healing process. The next stage is to use intuitive diagnostics in preparation for Koo Miri.
Koo Miri is a counsellling process whereby the practitioner converses with the whai-ora to explore the 'core' emotional experiences behind the physical, psychological or mental ailments that are affecting their well being. Whai-ora have often held on to these experiences for many years and are encouraged to let these memories go as they can often hold people back from attaining their full potential of living a healthy and fulfilling life. Using the whatumanawa - intuitive diagnostics, they are able to facilitate an opportunity for whaiora to identify their issues and let them go.
Taa Miri is about reading and listening to the body. Trauma, negative energies, emotional pain, physical and psychological pain or even generational pain can be trapped in the cellular memory of the body. The trained Tohunga practitioner can literally see where these painful experiences are sitting on the body and which bones may have come out of alignment because of it. For e.g. hip bones out caused by an imbalance of the male and female roles in life or the legs may be sore which is usually about a lack of direction in life. There are many more parts of the body that our practitioners are trained to see.
Romiromi is the last stage of the 'Te Oomai Reia' process. The experiences that are trapped in the cellular memory can cause emotional and physical blockages in the body. Our practitioners carry out deep tissue work using their elbows, knees, feet, greenstone, wood and sea water to clear and open these blocked energy points and chakras in the body. The techniques used enable the energy to flow once again through the entire body hence facilitating an opportunity for whai-ora to release of a life time of experiences from the body. The transformations are absolutely amazing. Hence this work is very sacred to our culture.
