Do you need a colon cleanse?
How would you know if you do?

A thick film can form in the colon which can be the consistency of peanut butter. If the colon is not cleaned regularly, then the opening gets smaller and smaller so that the poisons and toxins block up the colon and cause self poisoning in the rest of the body.  Constipation is one sign that the colon needs to be cleaned or lower back pain, swelling of the abdominal area or that lower back area being very warm or hot.

In the process of a colonic, the practitioner repeatedly fills the colon with water to clean and flush this area. When the water is seen to be a dark green colour then the flush is deep into the colon area. It costs around $130 and practitioners can be found in the yellow pages or recommended from your local health shop.  We clean our bodies on the outside every day and yet we forget to clean our organs on the inside that work for us 24/7.

Two weeks before a colonic, your practitioner may recommend that you use psyllium husks ($10 packet from health shop of the supermarket) together with Nature Sunshine's LBSII capsules ($38 from health shop).  I use about a desert spoon of psyllium in cereal and then take 3 - 4 capsules in the morning.  You must drink 2 - 3 litres of water per day while doing this otherwise you will feel sick.  The psyllium blows up matter in the colon while the LBSII capsules pushes it out.  I recommend the elderly do this for 3 - 4 days as a colonic can be a bit harsh for some.

Once you have done a cleansing, you can keep your colon clean by daily using a desrtspoon full of LSA - (combination of Linseed, Sunflower Seeds and Almonds) in your cereal with a desertspoon full of psyllium husks of metamucil.  LSA are relatively tasteless granules and can be sprinkled on your cereal or other meals first thing in the morning.  It costs around $10 approx and can be brought for the supermarket or health shop.  Metamucil is around $20+ from the supermarket.

Juicing beetroot first thing in the morning detoxes and feeds the colon.  Do this while you are doing a colon cleanse if you can.

Every 3 - 4 months, I may do a weekend colon cleansing making sure I drink plenty of water.  Its amazing how alive and alert your body and mind becomes as well as a result. I am mindful of eating processed, fatty, fried and refined foods i.e. white bread, white flour, fried foods that slow down the system and produce that thick gooey film (like peanut butter) on the inside of our colon to which matter sticks too.  I was amazed at the photographs of matter that comes out of some people- some up to 2 kgs and some of the people were so young. No doubt eating takeaways?

Alternatively, special colon cleanse kits are available in New Zealand for around $60 to $80 and can be purchased from your local health shops.

Please click on the links below for more information and photos about colon cleanses. (Keep in mind that similar products shown can also be found in New Zealand locally. Support the NZ economy!)

Some practitioners advise that these be done every 3 months to 6 or 12 months, depending on the individual. If in doubt then ask for advice at your local health shop to recommend a colonic practitioner for you or try your local yellow pages.
